Dr. Hans Weigand (1959) has studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the Free University in Amsterdam. His Ph.D thesis was about the application of linguistic theory in knowledge engineering. In 1989 he moved to Tilburg and worked as senior-researcher in the ESPRIT II project SPRITE (database support for technical documentation). Since 1991 he is Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of Tilburg University and co-initiated several projects (LIKE, SPECIE, ABC) sponsored by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). He has participated in several external projects, including two ESPRIT projects, TREVI (news filtering) and MEMO (electronic commerce), and the FP6 Network of Excellence INTEROP. He has been co-organizing international workshops on the Language/Action Perspective (LAP) and the Pragmatic Web Pragweb

Hans Weigand is member of the board of SIKS and secretary of the board of the BENELUX chapter of AIS BENAIS

Research interests

Conceptual modelling, multi-agent systems, value modeling, service-oriented computing, communication diagnosis and analysis, complex adaptive systems.

Courses

Currently, Hans Weigand teaches the following courses:

Computer Infrastructure.
This course gives an overview of modern operating systems and computer networks, as well as web programming.
E-Business for BS.
An introduction of e-business to Business Studies students.
Databases.
This master course gives a general introduction to relational databases, ER modeling and data warehouses.
Research Methods and Methodology.
A Ph.D. course within the Dutch research school SIKS.
